Zaratiana Randrianantenaina
Zaratiana Randrianantenaina is a dancer, choreographer and educator. Born in Madagascar in 1982, she graduated with highest honors in music, anatomy and contemporary dance at Conservatoire de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMPD). She joined the CNSMPD junior ballet where she performed pieces, among others, by Lucinda Childs, Merce Cunningham, Alwin Nikolais, Hervé Robbe. In the year 2001 she was awarded the „jeune espoir“ prize of the 9th International dance competition of Paris for her own choreography »mal de soi«. In 2002, she became a member of the Ballet Preljocaj. In 2009 she joined Berlin based contemporary dance company Sasha Waltz & Guests and performed in every production since then. Alongside, she participates to improvisation and dance projects with children and young adults. Since 2019 she develops projects in Madagascar, like »la danse en partage« in Tananarive in 2019 and since 2020 various online formats to continue the artistic exchange. In 2021 she was the initiator and artistic co-director of ELO program for young dance professionals in Madagascar. In 2022 she was invited by the Savvy Contemporary to present her solo »pieces of memory« in the frame of the event called »incantations«, reflecting on the question of »restitutions« in the post-colonial context.
