Hwanhee Hwang

Hwanhee Hwang is a dancer and choreographer born in Busan, South Korea. She studied at the School of Dance of the Korea National University of Arts (KNUA) and, in addition to her dance education, also pursued studies in Fine Arts at the same university. Alongside her studies, she was a member of the well-known Korean company LDP and worked as a choreographer and teacher in Seoul.

After her graduation, she began to work not only on her own projects, but also, to broaden her career as an artist, with various productions and theatres like Theatre Troupe Georipae, Seoul Metropolitan Theatre, and Ulsan Metropolitan Arts Theater as a guest choreographer. 

In 2009 Hwanhee Hwang relocated to Berlin and has since performed in many productions there. 

Besides her work with Sasha Waltz & guests, Hwanhee Hwang regularly creates her own interdisciplinary projects in Berlin and Seoul, in which she is particularly interested in collaborating with artists from various fields, such as theatre, visual arts, music and video art. In 2012 she began working with the company Sasha Waltz & Guests.
