Revival: »Sacre« is returning to a Berlin stage
The choreography by Sasha Waltz at Haus der Berliner Festspiele, June 27 through 30 - with a world premiere.
After a 5-year break, the revival of Sasha Waltz' choreography
»Sacre« based on the modern key work »Le Sacre du Printemps« by Igor Stravinsky is on the program from June 27th to 30th, 2024 at the Haus der Berliner Festspiele.
The timeless, archaic choreography by Sasha Waltz was shown for the first time in Berlin at the end of 2013 under the musical direction of Daniel Barenboim with the Staatskapelle Berlin. The choreography »L'Après-midi d'un faune« to the music of Claude Debussy was also premiered in this context and has since been part of the three-part evening »Sacre« together with the »Scène d'Amour« from »Roméo et Juliette«.
On the occasion of the revival, Sasha Waltz has now once again dedicated herself to Claude Debussy's »L'Après-midi d'un faune« and reworked the choreography, which will be premiered on June 27 at the Haus der Berliner Festspiele.
The choreography »Sacre« by Sasha Waltz was developed in 2013 for the 100th anniversary of the musical work and and premiered with the ballet of the Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg, followed by a performance at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris, the location of the world premiere of Stravinsky's ballet music. The choreography was then included in the repertoire of Sasha Waltz & Guests.
