Ticket sales start: »Zweiland« & »for the time being« at Radialsystem
In August, we revisit the concept of the »living archive« with the revival of another significant early work by Sasha Waltz: »Zweiland« (1997) will be passed on to a new generation of dancers this summer and will thus return to the stage after more than 10 years from 27 to 30 August at Radialsystem. During the same period, the latest production by Sasha Waltz & Guests, »for the time being«, can also be experienced there once again. Advanced Ticket sale has started.
In her early works, choreographer Sasha Waltz captivates audiences with imaginative and surreal stories that draw their power from the mundane everyday. What moves people at their core serves as the starting point for energetic movement studies. The pieces take us on journeys through a wide variety of emotional and dreamlike worlds, in which people’s living spaces play a central role.
»Zweiland« takes us into a public space: the street. The dynamism and pulsating vitality of a Berlin street are reflected in the rhythmic movement sequences. Sasha Waltz unfolds a poetic exploration of the theme »Images from Germany« and recounts this era of social upheaval and new beginnings like a fairy tale. Social conditions are depicted on an interpersonal level, making them directly tangible. The symbolic number »two« manifests itself in various forms: growing together, togetherness and division, despair. Absurd everyday situations alternate with character studies and fairy-tale-like images. German songs from different centuries are interpreted by the seven performers themselves, thus allowing music and dance to merge into a single entity.
