Sasha Waltz, together with a group of dancers and music by Diego Noguera, explores the Reethaus on the banks of the Spree – tickets are now on sale.
Sasha Waltz & Guests unveil a site-specific performance of presence in and around Reethaus, with music mixed live by Diego Noguera. Rooted in the practices of Mary Starks Whitehouse (Authentic Movement) and Pauline Oliveros (Deep Listening), the company’s dancers engage in a meticulous, spontaneous response to every sound, gesture, surface and shadow, drawing audiences into their intensified state of awareness.
There are no fixed seats in the house, and the audience is free to circulate, creating a flowing matrix of perspectives guided by individual acts of agency. Audience members continuously choose how close or far they want to be from the performance, and the dancers integrate the behavior of the audience, all engaged together in a congress of deep listening and deep watching — a mobile social sculpture. The invitation is to open ourselves, like the dancers are doing, to areas we more often hide from.
