Showing Children's and Youth Dance Company 2025
On 30 June and 1 July 2025, around 100 young dancers from Sasha Waltz & Guests' children's and youth dance company will once again show what they have been working on over the past year in their annual show at Berlin's Radialsystem.
For the second time, the youngest children aged 6 to 9 from the children's dance Group 1 will also be performing. This time with the piece »Treeeees«, accompanied by live music (piano: Neslihan Schmidt).
In »Welleneffekt«, the young dancers of the children's dance group 2 (aged 9 to 11) engage in a dialogue with live music (Alexander Nickmann) and explore their playful connection to percussion.
Afterwards, around 20 young dancers from Group 3 (aged 11 to 14) explore questions of identity in the production »Constantly becoming«. It explores questions of identity, belonging, demarcation and community: who am I, who do I want to be and who are we? Starting with a rope, which is both a material and an object, they explore knotting, wrapping, tension, weaving, swinging and hanging.
After a short break, the oldest group (14+) will present their latest piece »NEXUS«: In a world full of divisive conflicts and existential crises, choreographer Wibke Storkan, together with a group of 27 teenagers/young adults and musician Ali Hasan, searches for what connects, interweaves, promotes community and provides support. »NEXUS« links questions about our responsibility in the world and the transformative potential of collective creativity. The rhythm set in motion, the shared carrying of weight, joint breathing and music open up a space of collectivity in which we can both recognise ourselves as different and understand ourselves as equals.
