Training: »Weave & Dive« mit Pablo von Sternenfels

Weave and Dive is a dynamic dance practice rooted in the collective energy ofexploring and strengthening our unique bodily voice—our personal body ofcomposition.Drawing inspiration from jazz musicianship, we’ll translate musical concepts into thelanguage of dance: long notes, chromatic scales, thematic development, rhythmicinterplay, melodic continuity, chord tension, call-and-response, and more. These ideasbecome threads that connect and elevate our movement, transforming the body intothe instrument that plays all the instruments. The practice unfolds successionally,beginning with fundamental mobility exercises that awaken the body, progressingthrough technical and coordination pathways, and culminating in improvisation andcomposition drills that ignite our creativity. What tools do we need to unlock the vastlibrary of our physical being? As a group, we delve into this question, sharing tangiblemethods to expand our individual movement practices and to discover the limitlesspossibilities that emerge from creating in real-time through play, study andcooperation.By the end of each session, the space opens fully to immerse in the practice—tosimultaneously be spectators and practitioners of all the movement that happenswithin and around us.

About Pablo von Sternenfels

Pablo von Sternenfels was born in Mexico and later moved with his family to Chicago, where he grew up experiencing his home country through the Chicano community. That’s also where he took his first dance classes with Stephanie Clemens. At seven, he returned to Mexico and continued his training at Taller Coreográfico de la UNAM and the Escuela Nacional de Danza Clásica y Contemporánea, focusing mainly on ballet. His passion for dance led him to further his studies in Cuba for two years before completing my ballet training in Stuttgart. He then joined the Stuttgart Ballet, where he danced for five years. In 2017, he decided to step away from ballet to explore other dance styles and artistic disciplines. Throughout his career, he had the opportunity to work with choreographers such as Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Marion Sparber, William Forsythe, Alessandra LaBella, Sonia Rodriguez, and others
