Revival: »Sacre« is returning to a Berlin stage
Following its revival at the Haus der Berliner Festspiele, »Sacre« will be performed in Barcelona from July 6 to 10.
Following its revival of »Sacre« at the Haus der Berliner Festspiele in June, we are delighted to present the piece for the 50th time at the Grand Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona.
The timeless, archaic choreography by Sasha Waltz was developed in 2013 for the 100th anniversary of the musical work and premiered with the ballet of the Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg, followed by a performance at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris, the world premiere venue of Stravinsky's ballet music. »Sacre« premiered as a concert version at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in 1928. Stravinsky's musical work has been performed a total of eighteen times in various adaptations at this venue - and will be performed there for the first time in July in a choreography by Sasha Waltz.
The choreography was added to the repertoire of Sasha Waltz & Guests after its premiere in St. Petersburg and was first performed in Berlin at the end of 2013 under the musical direction of Daniel Barenboim with the Staatskapelle Berlin, supplemented by the »Scène d'Amour« from »Roméo et Juliette« by Hector Berlioz and Waltz's choreography »L'Après-midi d'un faune« to music by Claude Debussy.
