Sasha Waltz together with an ensemble of 13 dancers devotes herself to »Symphony no. 7 in A Major, op. 92« in its entirety. This music originated in 1812, when Beethoven was already going deaf, and touches on topics of his time that are still relevant to us today: the failure of a revolution, a (forced) return to old traditions, a friction between the desire for societal transformation and restoration, and the accompanying loss of freedom and future perspectives. In the first part of the evening, Sasha Waltz takes up these topics to the electronic sounds of Diego Noguera’s »Freiheit/Extasis«, which are developed during the creation process, and reinterprets them from a contemporary point of view. The performance will be live accompanied by the Tonkünstler-Orchester under the baton of Titus Engel.
