Sasha Waltz & Guests will be coming to Tel Aviv again after more than 10 years, presenting the choreography »Continu« at the Israeli Opera May 15th through 18th.
On the occasion of its 25th jubilee the company is excited to be travelling to Tel Aviv again to perform Sasha Waltz’ choreography »Continu« at the Israeli Opera May 15th through 18th. This will be Sasha Waltz & Guests third time there after presenting »Körper« in 2001 and Sasha Waltz’ first choreographic opera »Dido & Aeneas« in 2008. The performances are made possible with generous support by the German Federal Foreign Office.
Sasha Waltz’ »Continu« (2010) generates a field of tension between choreographic, musical and visual currents of energy, while the title denotes the continuity of the perpetual forces of nature. The choreography for 24 dancers focusses on group dynamics: The relation between the individual and the group, on gender relations, but also on powers influencing the group dynamics from inside and outside. The epochal symphonic work »Arcana« by Edgard Varèse represents the musical core of »Continu«, which is then complemented by compositions by other artists like Claude Vivier and Iannis Xenakis, whose percussion solo »Rebonds B« is live performed by renowned percussionist Robyn Schulkowsky.
