We are very happy to visit London again: Before, in November, »Sacre« by Sasha Waltz will be shown at Sadler“s Wells, Juan Kruz Diaz de Garaio Esnaola, Luc Dunberry, Damien Jalet and Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui will perform »d“avant« at the Southbank Centre, 6 & 7 May 2015, 6.30pm.

Starting out from the vocal music of the Middle Ages, the quartet Juan Kruz Diaz de Garaio Esnaola, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Luc Dunberry und Damien Jalet created a mosaic of song and movement. Set on a construction site, this »mediaeval boy group« dreams its way through several epochs. From today’s perspective, »d’avant« thus recalls the past in freely arranged atmospheric images, leaving space for associations by avoiding the narrow framework of a linear plot.

»In rapid and grotesque succession, we see a brief historical survey, from the medieval procession to the love parade: flagellants, agitators, fans, street battles, soccer players. Every age produces its own collective rituals, and these are cited here with a few gestures.«
