»Roméo et Juliette« reprised in Paris and Berlin

On the 6th April »Roméo et Juliette« by Sasha Waltz celebrated its second reprise at the Opéra National de Paris (Bastille). The production will be coming back to the Deutsche Oper Berlin in September – danced by Sasha Waltz & Guests.

After »Dido & Aeneas« (Henry Purcell) and »Medea« (Pascal Dusapin) »Roméo et Juliette« was Sasha Waltz’ third choreographic opera and her first work with and for a grand ballet ensemble. The two leads in the premiere in 2007 were danced by the great Étoiles of the Ballet at the Opéra National de Paris: Aurélie Dupont and Hervé Moreau. The choreography by Sasha Waltz to the dramatic symphony by Hector Berlioz since then has been on a voyage: It was first transfered into the repertory of the milanese Teatro alla Scala before finally coming to Berlin for it’s German Premiere at the Deutsche Oper Berlin in 2015 – performed by the dancers of Sasha Waltz & Guests with whom Sasha Waltz had developed the piece 2007 at the Radialsystem V.

We are happy to announce that the choreography will be performed again at the Deutsche Oper Berlin on 6th 7th 9th and 10th September 2018 – ticket sale starts on the 17th April 2018.
